I had a wonderful day at my first CC appointment at Hound Association of Scotland. I had a great entry with very few absentees and wonderful exhibitors. The quality was high across both the dogs and bitches. My greatest thanks to the committee for inviting me to judge.

1st – Mrs S J Taylor’s Huntstaff Major For Ormanstar
A well proportioned 12 month old dog with good length, substance and bone. Long neck with good reach. Ears well set and good pigment to eyes. Croup well sloped, good length of leg - especially length of second thigh. Well knuckled and tidy feet. Moved soundly, covered the ground well with good reach. This boy has good potential ahead of him. BJ.
2nd – Mrs T M Freeman’s Lilac Wind Ozymandias At Glooscap (IMP FRA)
A 15 month old darker dog, not as mature as my first, but shapely and still pleasing to the eye. Smaller but moved well. A good head; very high set ears and with smaller eyes and a gentle expression. Well sloped croup into a well angulated hindquarters. Good bend of stifle and generous width of thigh. Hocks well let down.

1st – Mr I R & Mrs L Swanson’s Cotherstone Dallas Dhu Of Altimarlach
An attractive, 20 month old dark dog. Lovely head and expression. Strong neck with good reach. Good depth of chest and spring of rib, carried well back. Shoulders laid back, well constructed and angulated behind and in front. Good length of loin and well-muscled, but would have preferred a little more shape to his topline. Coat harsh to the touch. Nice, easy movement.
2nd – Mrs N Macbean’s Kaleginy Plaid
A 2 year old lighter, more mature dog with slightly longer coat than my first. Very nice outline with great substance and depth of chest. Pleasing head with high set ears. Moved well coming and going but overall not quite as easy as my first.

A 20 month old, darker dog. Plenty of length in the body. Covered the ground easily with a good length of stride. Was feeling a bit excitable today. Nice head profile, lovely expression, strong bone, good substance and well muscled. Good spring of rib and depth of chest which was well balanced with length of leg. Loin of good length, strong and lead into well sloped croup with a long tail set on well. Very well constructed hindquarters and a good width of thigh. RDCC.

2 ½ year old male with plenty of size and good substance. Well rosed ears. Well muscled neck. Chest with good depth and well sprung ribs. Well coated. Moved well in profile.

A very well built 4 year old lighter male with a typical and pleasing outline. Lovely head, well furnished and gentle expression with good pigment. Strong neck, well sprung ribs that carry far back. Lovely topline and well arched loin. Powerful and well-muscled hindquarters. Overall very well angulated. Good, straight movement in profile and coming/going, but moved exceptionally well in the group ring with an easy, long stride. DCC, BOB and went on to win RBIS.
2nd – Mrs S & Miss V Baumann & Lucas’ Packway Loxley Norton
Good size, mature male with plenty of coat, balanced in outline with plenty of bone. Great length of leg. Pleasing top line, well ribbed back. Tidy, well knuckled feet. Was feeling rather excitable today.

9 year old, lighter male in full coat with good substance for his age. Typical outline, lovely head and expression with a far away look. Neck has good reach, leading into a well constructed front. Great length of body and well proportioned to length of leg. Moved with good energy and reach in profile and was a very happy boy in the ring. BV.

Well proportioned 7 year old male of good size. Not quite the outline of my first, but still a well constructed dog who looked very good today. Ribs carried well back, well sloped croup. Covered the ground well when moving, sound coming and going.

1 year old bitch with good length of body. Lovely head and expression. Good depth to her chest, loin arched and well muscled. Feet tidy and well-knuckled. Moved well in profile, covering the ground easily. Needs a little more time to develop balance across both hind and forequarters but good proportions at this stage.
2nd – Mr J L Jackson’s Killoeter Unique
A 16 month old, more mature bitch. Pleasing front, well built and had good bone. Shapely underline.
Good bend of stifle and length of second thigh. Moved well when settled, needs a little more time in the ring.

A 2 year old dark, typey and pretty bitch. Very pleasing head and soft feminine expression. Dark eyes with good pigment. Small rosed ears set on high. Shapely and more feminine but moved round the ring with such ease. Soundly made, super outline. Not the biggest bitch but wonderful balance of structure and type, with plenty of bone for her size. Lightness to stride and covered the ground with ease. RBCC

A dark and shapely 2 year old bitch. Dark well shaped eyes, good pigment. Well set, fine and tidy ears. Head well set onto a strong neck, well muscled and leading into well laid back shoulder. Long brisket with a nice underline leading into a good tuck up. Good bend of stifle. Tidy, well knuckled feet. Really lovely mover in profile. Would like a little more length in body.

A 3 year old, soundly constructed bitch with a very good outline. Good bone, well muscled and good proportions to the body with great length of leg. Pleasing head and expression. Strong, prominent forechest. Very well laid back shoulder with a super return of upper arm. Good brisket, splitting well back, plenty of spring to ribs and carried far back. Great depth of chest. Loin of good length, leading into broad and powerful hindquarters. Moved very soundly, straight coming and going and covered the ground well with great stride length in profile. An understated and unexaggerated bitch with a lot to like about her. BCC.

A 2 ½ year old shapely bitch, pleasing to the eye with a nice outline. Well angulated forequarters with good, strong and broad bone. Not quite as substantial as my first, but a lovely balance of elegance and sound construction. Moved effortlessly and covered the ground in profile. Sound coming and going.

Good forechest with well sprung ribs, splitting far back. Great width of first and second thigh. Sound mover coming and going, moved very well in profile with good stride length.

A 5 year old, darker and more shapely bitch. Lovely head and expression with high set and tidy ears.
Good top line, rising over the loin into strong, drooping hindquarters. Well angulated behind, good bend of stifle and width of thigh. Good coat. Great reach when moving in profile, lovely movement.
Tidy and well-knuckled feet.
